Melissa has been recognised nationally and internationally as a leading trade mark and patent lawyer by Chambers & Partners, WTR and IAM Patent 1000.

Melissa has assisted multinational and domestic clients to create, protect, purchase, sell, oppose and enforce intellectual property rights or defend allegations of infringement, including ancillary allegations concerning the Australian Consumer Law before the Federal Court of Australia and High Court of Australia and negotiated, and draft related commercial contracts for over 18 years as a solicitor at international and domestic firms in Australia and was called to the Bar in 2022.

She has acted for entities including Universal Music Australia, Sony Music Australia and Warner Chapel Music Australia in copyright matters, enforced and defended patent rights for entities including Pfizer, Apotex, Mylan, Navman Australia and H Lundbeck A/S, negotiated and drafted agreements including SAAS agreements for global logistics providers, assisted in trade mark matters for clients including Cadbury, Ferrari, Dior Parfums, Chanel,  Lacoste, Louis Vuitton Malletier, Butter Sydney, Anderson Paak and advised on unique aspects of the Australian law for inbound entitles launching in Australian including Marley Spoon and a bionic ear manufacturer.

Melissa’s focus is to assist clients to achieve their IP objectives in a strategic and cost effective manner.

Melissa holds dual Bachelors degrees in Science (biochemistry) and Law from the University of Queensland, a Master of Commercial Laws from the University of Melbourne and executive leadership training from Harvard Business School. She is also a registered trade marks attorney.
