Jacob accepts briefs in all areas of law. He has a particular interest in commercial law, media and defamation law, intellectual property law and administrative and public law.
Before coming to the Bar, Jacob was a senior lawyer within Gilbert + Tobin’s Disputes and Investigations group. In six years at Gilbert + Tobin, he acted in complex commercial litigation, regulatory investigations into financial services firms, arbitrations and matters concerning defamation and electoral laws.
Jacob holds a Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of New South Wales, where he graduated 2nd in his class and received prizes for the highest mark awarded annually in six of 24 subjects studied. Jacob also holds a Bachelor of Economic and Social Sciences (Hons 1) from the University of Sydney.
Prior to entering the law, Jacob spent 12 years as a journalist at the Sydney Morning Herald. In that time, he worked in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery and oversaw the paper’s coverage of urban development and transport issues.
